Tag - It's My Hair

I saw this post on Dessyluvs and decided to do it. I was not tagged but I wanted to do it anyway. It is fun to answer these questions and also give you ladies more insight on my journey.

1. Why did you start your hair journey ?
I started my hair journey from being inspired from the first hair youtube video I saw. It was from Ulovemegz and although she was relaxed I enjoyed learning about how she took care of her hair. After watching a few videos I started wondering about my natural hair. I was about 17 and all I knew was using a flat iron. I then came across a site that she mentioned called Hairlista which peak my interest. From there I started

2. How long have you been on your hair journey ?
I been on my hair journey for going on 3 years now in August. I had setbacks and laziness which had put a halt to my journey progress. I still consider myself still a newbie in all this.

3. Are you natural, relaxed or transitioning ?
I am natural and do not plan to change it.

4. What is your hair length now ?
I currently have an install so I am not sure what my hair length is. Also the day before my install I trimmed my ends and I felt at that point I may had been grazing MBL. But I think I am currently BSL.

5. What is your goal length ?
My goal length will have to be waist length or full mid back length.

6. What is your hair texture ?
I am around 3b and some 3c I will say, but more 3b.

7. Health or Length ?
I would definitely have to say health. Without health you won't have length.

8. If you could only live with one hair product what would it be ?
This is a hard question but I would say Aussie 3 Minute Miracle. I can use it as both a co wash and a deep conditioner.

9. What's the worse product you've ever used ?
I would have to say THE worst product that I have come across during my hair journey will have to be Shea Moisture Restorative Conditioner. It just did not help with detangling, it was not moisturizing and it didn't strength it. It just matted and dried up my hair.

10. What is your go to hair style ?
Like everyone else a bun is my go to style. I am able to protect my ends and hair from natural elements.  If I had a bad twist out I can easily conceal it with a bun. I am able to keep my hair from brushing against my clothes. Also if I don't feel like doing anything to my hair buns are always handy.

11. Are you a product junkie ?
Ehhh... Maybe ? Yes ? Yeah, I am. I still am looking for my go to products.

12. How often do you trim your ends ?
This is my downfall when it comes to my journey. I tend to trim my hair way to often, more then 3 times a year. I try to put the scissors down but I just can not help it. When I see a split end I have to get my ends cut. So maybe getting often trims are a good thing, at least for me.

13. How often do you use heat ?
I use heat when I do not have a sew in, about every 2-3 months. If there a special occasion I will use heat. But I do not use it very often.

14. Do you take supplements ?
Nope but I want to try out hairinifity.

15. Favorite Oil ?
My favorite oil[s] will be grapeseed oil, jojoba oil and avocado oil.

16. Who is your hair crush ?
There are so many of them to name a few Summerkelsy, Amber Janielle, Jessica, Kelsy & Kendra [Glamtwinz] & Neicey . There are so many more but these are the ones that come off the top of my head.

17. How long does it take you on wash day ?
Hmmm ?? I would say 3 hours. I remember when I first started my hair journey and it would be almost the entire day lol. But now I have learned more about my hair and the maximum amount of time that is effective for my hair.

18. Worse thing that ever happened to your hair ?
The worse thing that has ever happened was trying out ACV rinse. It did not work well with my hair.

19. Do you dye your hair if so what color ?
I currently just color my hair black but once the fall comes I am thinking about a light brown or a burgundy color. I enjoy coloring my hair.

20. Who do you tag ?
I tag everyone and anyone that wants to do this tag !

Wash Day (7/7)

It feels good to have a clean scalp especially since I haven't washed my hair in almost two weeks! Yeah I know slacker/gross! My  hair needed a good wash and some moisture back into it. Also I just came from the beach and even though I wasn't in the water the elements could of been harsh on my hair ex.sun.  I started off with clarifying my hair since I haven't washed my hair in awhile. Needed to get rid of product build up and plus its the beginning of the month. I used my suave clarifying shampoo, I would say I do prefer the ORS aloe shampoo but I have yet to buy a full size.  I proceeded to conditioning my hair because it was very much needed. I used my L'oreal Power Moisture conditioner and saturated my hair with the product so I can detangle my hair with my fingers instead of a comb. So easy to detangle my hair with this conditioner I love it.  Followed up with my deep conditioner which is the Bee Mine D/C. I didn't wear my heating cap or leave in on for hours.

Hair Length Check In

I can not believe how far my hair has come. My hair has been in a protective for half the year, which was a sew-in. I did not have a sew in for the summer I gave my hair a break. I am currently debating if I should get another sew in for the colder months that is coming but I am not sure. My hair feels fuller & thicker. I was even asked if I had a weave in lol. Here is my current length. Am I Mid-Back length ? This picture was taken in Oct/13  Here is my current length as of Oct/14

So I Made Waist Length

I made my long term goal! I'm finally waist length. I have been on a hair journey for a very long time and through so many trial and errors I found what helped me. My growth has definitely come from protective styling. I'm either doing a sew in and if not that my hair was always in a bun. Also having a simple hair routine is key! Not only that but keeping up with my ends. I plan to get my ends lightly trimmed but the only person I trust is so far from me but very soon I will get one. I might try to do a new hair goal of hip length but honestly not sure having long hair can kind of be annoying, but I'm not complaining I love my current length.
