Wash Day

This week washday (5-05) I ended up doing a rollerset something I wasn't planning to do just yet but I haven't gotten any good luck with twist outs or cowash days lately. So I just decided to straighten my hair so I won't have to deal with my hair for a week. I also used different products this time around since nothing else has been working for me.

Prepoo with JBCO on scalp & grapeseed oil on the lengths of my hair.

Shampoo with Creme of Nature Argan Oil lathers up very well for a sulfate free shampoo.

I then did a VERY light protein treatment. I mean if you would consider it a protein treatment.. I put mane & tail deep moisturizing conditioner and left it on for two minutes. When I rinsed it out my hair felt really soft and I enjoyed the results. Hair was able to be detangled very well. (This is my first time trying this product since I was scared to use because it contains proteins)

I then deep condition for 30 minutes with heat using the Bee Mine Beautiful...
This deep conditioner I don't know! I don't think my hair approves of this deep conditioner but its hard to say because any conditioner my hair has been disliking except for that Mane n Tail which I am surprised about.

I applied my leaves in which was the Chi Silk Infusion and Garnier Fructis leave in conditioner I applied a small amount so it won't weight my hair down as much.

As for the rollersets since I haven't done it in awhile of course it was not perfect it wasn't acceptable at all. Once I got out from the dryer I had a lot of textured in the roots which resulted in me using a flat iron. I haven't used heat in two months and I was really scared ! I hope I didn't cause any heat damaged 😩.

Planning to keep it straight for two weeks and back to washing regularly after...

  1. Wheat protein isn't a very strong protein which may be why your hair doesn't mind it. In fact, it is a 'moisturizing protein'. Check this out for an explanation:

Be sure not to avoid all proteins, just the really strong ones or the ones too big to penetrate LP hair. Not all proteins are created equal when it comes to LP hair.

I am sorry you didn't like the Bee Mine but be sure to check out Curl Mart and check their protein free DCs. There are so many others to try! Good luck!

    1. I hope that next time I try it out it works and keeps giving me consistent results. I been having the worst luck with conditioners lately. The Bee Mine, I guess it wasn't what my hair really like. Some days were good others were okay.. I'm currently looking at products from Oyin Handmade & Curl Junkie.

    2. I really love the Curl Rehab by Curl Junkie but I HATE the price for the amount you get. Maybe you can catch a good sale on it. Good luck!

Wash Day (7/7)

It feels good to have a clean scalp especially since I haven't washed my hair in almost two weeks! Yeah I know slacker/gross! My  hair needed a good wash and some moisture back into it. Also I just came from the beach and even though I wasn't in the water the elements could of been harsh on my hair ex.sun.  I started off with clarifying my hair since I haven't washed my hair in awhile. Needed to get rid of product build up and plus its the beginning of the month. I used my suave clarifying shampoo, I would say I do prefer the ORS aloe shampoo but I have yet to buy a full size.  I proceeded to conditioning my hair because it was very much needed. I used my L'oreal Power Moisture conditioner and saturated my hair with the product so I can detangle my hair with my fingers instead of a comb. So easy to detangle my hair with this conditioner I love it.  Followed up with my deep conditioner which is the Bee Mine D/C. I didn't wear my heating cap or leave in on for hours.

Umm, Hey ?!

I  have not written a post in over a few months now & I feel a little okay about it. I just was not in the mood to really write about hair. It just started to become repetitive & a little boring to me. Don't get me wrong I still plan on documenting my hair journey & I still enjoy everything hair related. It was just a moment for me that I was kind of over it. I have been enjoying my hair length & been using heat a little too much, but that's okay. I mean isn't that the point of reaching your goal length, to enjoy it in whatever way you want? Well I definitely did & now it's time to get back to my normal hair routine. I still have a long term goal I want to achieve. So let's see where I go from here. This is my small space on the internet & I don't plan on abandoning it any time soon.

Hair Length Check In

I can not believe how far my hair has come. My hair has been in a protective for half the year, which was a sew-in. I did not have a sew in for the summer I gave my hair a break. I am currently debating if I should get another sew in for the colder months that is coming but I am not sure. My hair feels fuller & thicker. I was even asked if I had a weave in lol. Here is my current length. Am I Mid-Back length ? This picture was taken in Oct/13  Here is my current length as of Oct/14
