Getting Frustrated ! [Hair Rant]

Lately my roots have been giving me the hardest time when washing my hair or detangling. I guess this would be consider as "New Growth". I say that because my hair was colored few months ago back to black and unlike when I had my blonde color hair I was able to see the new growth, but since my hair is already black I can't really tell. My roots have been making my hair impossible to wash.

Not only is it my roots though but the length of my hair been acting up to. When I wash my hair with any conditioner it does not seem to soften up my new growth or make my hair manageable. It becomes a struggle to detangle my hair my fingers let alone a wide tooth comb. I then follow up with a deep conditioner but that still won't do much even if I applied it as if it were a relaxer, roots first, it still doesn't help. I honestly don't know what to do. My hair just hasn't be responding well to anything it just becomes rough. I came up with a concoction using herbal essence hello hydration & water which did help soften my roots. That was really the only thing that has helped me. I tried it on the lengths of my hair but that just made my hair feel really coated..

I have tried VO5 conditioners as a cowash which turned out horrible for my hair. I'm guessing because it has protein inside but that stuff made my hair rough. Herbal Essence conditioners are no good they just aren't the same to me. I've tired the Suave Shea Butter & Almond and that didn't turn out well either. Conditioners are supposed to be the best part of washing my hair but none of them are giving me any results in detangling, moisturizing and softening. I'm planning to purchase the Suave humectant that was comparable to Nexxus Humecant since that was a favorite way before Hello Hydration. I have also come across the Mane & Tail Deep Moisturizing conditioner that actually made my hair feel pretty good. But that was the first time using it so when my next wash day comes or if I decide to do a cowash I'm going to try it out again and see how my hair reacts.

Well I guess that's why its called trial and error right... Well hopefully this journey can become exciting and enjoyable like it once was.

  1. hey hun, i'm sorry you're having a rough time with your hair. generally when my hair is unresponsive, i'll try to clarify first and then see what my hair needs from there. i hope that helps.

    1. I have tried that and it does work but for that one wash day in the beginning of the month. I'm planning to trade out my sulfate free shampoos for a sulfate shampoo. Hopefully this could do more good then harm

  2. Whenever my roots give me trouble---I completely detangle my dry hair, then apply 2 parts conditioner 1 part Roux Porosity Control Conditioner to my hair, and then coat with coconut oil. I sit under a heating cap for an hour or so and hop into the shower to rinse.

    Great blog chica

    1. I should give that a try but would have to substitution the coconut oil and Roux Porosity conditioner. I have low porosity hair and those products don't work out on my hair. & Thank you that means a lot :)

Umm, Hey ?!

I  have not written a post in over a few months now & I feel a little okay about it. I just was not in the mood to really write about hair. It just started to become repetitive & a little boring to me. Don't get me wrong I still plan on documenting my hair journey & I still enjoy everything hair related. It was just a moment for me that I was kind of over it. I have been enjoying my hair length & been using heat a little too much, but that's okay. I mean isn't that the point of reaching your goal length, to enjoy it in whatever way you want? Well I definitely did & now it's time to get back to my normal hair routine. I still have a long term goal I want to achieve. So let's see where I go from here. This is my small space on the internet & I don't plan on abandoning it any time soon.

Hair Length Check In

I can not believe how far my hair has come. My hair has been in a protective for half the year, which was a sew-in. I did not have a sew in for the summer I gave my hair a break. I am currently debating if I should get another sew in for the colder months that is coming but I am not sure. My hair feels fuller & thicker. I was even asked if I had a weave in lol. Here is my current length. Am I Mid-Back length ? This picture was taken in Oct/13  Here is my current length as of Oct/14

Giving Weave A Try | Update

I have been thinking about changing my hair a lot recently from the color to deciding if I want to relax it. I just been bored with my hair and I have been trying to do as many natural styles but its either I can't do it, doesn't come out right or it doesn't look right on me. I don't want to manipulate my hair anymore. I'm done with experimenting with color on my own hair and I don't want to continue putting heat on my hair just to cause damage. Soooooo I been thinking about trying out weave? I been looking into it for awhile but now I'm doing my research on it. I don't see any harm in getting weaves what so ever. I can color it and put heat on it I can also pick different textures. Only thing that's holding me back is that awkward feeling of people knowing your actual length and then the next day your hair is down your back lol. But I can get over it I think. This would be a great protective style and I'm hoping it can last for at least 3 months...
